St. Paul RCMP officer faces new charges in child pornography investigation

Cst. Evan Peacock of the St. Paul RCMP, who has been suspended since April amid a child pornography investigation, is now facing additional charges of soliciting sex with underage females online.

In mid-June 2024, the Alberta RCMP’s Eastern Alberta District General Investigative Section initiated an investigation into an adult male allegedly soliciting sex with underage females online. Following a brief investigation, the 33-year-old officer has been charged with one count of luring a child and one count of failure to comply with release order conditions.

According to the RCMP statement, Cst. Peacock has been with the RCMP for three and a half years and was released on conditions following charges from the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team in April. These charges include two counts each of possessing, distributing, and accessing child pornography. Despite the serious nature of these allegations, he remained suspended with pay.

Upon these new charges, Cst. Peacock has been remanded into custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 4, at the St. Paul Court of Justice.
