Man charged with second degree murder after fatal shooting on Frog Lake First Nation

A fatal shooting on Frog Lake First Nation on October 1 has left one man dead and another facing a second-degree murder charge.

Elk Point RCMP responded to a call at approximately 7:30 p.m. and arrived at a residence where they found a man who had been shot. EMD declared the victim deceased at the scene. According to a media release, the RCMP Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation, and an autopsy later confirmed the manner of death as a homicide.

As a result of the investigation, the Major Crimes Unit arrested Gerald Lagimodiere, a 22-year-old resident of Frog Lake, in connection with the death of Kevin Buffalo, 36, also from Frog Lake. Lagimodiere has been charged with second-degree murder.

Following his arrest, Lagimodiere was brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody. He made his first court appearance on October 3 at the Albert Court of Justice in St. Paul via CCTV.
