Cold Lake RCMP arrest and charge man with weapons offences at healthcare centre

On November 6, at 5:45 p.m., a Cold Lake RCMP officer, was at the Cold Lake Healthcare Centre for an unrelated matter, when he seen a man attempting to conceal a firearm on his person.  

The officer immediately began to issue verbal commands and verbally placed the individual under arrest. After several moments and with help from AHS security the male was secured.  

A search of the individual revealed the weapon to be an imitation handgun.  

Damian Belch, 21, of Cold Lake, faces three weapons-related charges and a charge of resisting arrest. Following an appearance before a Justice of the Peace he was remanded in custody with his next court appearance set for November 12, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster.
