Bonnyville RCMP arrested 72-year-old Louis Watchmaker of kehewin twice in less than a week following incidents of public intoxication and disturbances.
The first arrest occurred on December 1, when Bonnyville RCMP responded to reports of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance at a local bank. Officers arrested Watchmaker at the scene, and while in custody, he allegedly made several threats against two RCMP members.
Watchmaker was charged with disturbing the peace and two counts of uttering threats.
He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and released under conditions, including a prohibition against being intoxicated in public. His court date for these charges is set for December 17.
Two days after his release, RCMP were called to another local business where Watchmaker was reportedly intoxicated and disrupting customers. He was re-arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and failing to comply with a release condition.
Watchmaker remains under conditions and is scheduled to appear in court for the latest charges on January 28, 2025.
