Alberta Health Services is inviting residents of the Lakeland region to share their perspectives on the province’s healthcare system at a series of in-person public engagement session this March.
These sessions aim to gather feedback to help refocus and improve health care across Alberta.
In the Lakeland area, sessions are scheduled for March 5 in Lac La Biche and March 6 in Cold Lake and St. Paul. This follows a first round of consultations held last year, which included a Cold Lake engagement on March 7, 2024 at the Cold Lake Best Western.
The province launched its initiative to refocus the healthcare system in November 2023, committing to enhanced services, local decision-making, and improved health outcomes. Feedback from the initial round of consultations was summarized in the “What We Heard” report, which has guided the recent initiatives.
The second round of sessions it to build on this work by providing updates on ongoing efforts and collecting addition input on key areas, including access to care, workforce experiences, and local decision-making. “From the very start, we hace been committed to building a health care system that works for every Albertan. By continuing the conversation, we are ensuring that their experiences, perspectives and expertise are reflected in our decision-making,” said Minister of Health Adriana LaGrange.
Residents are urged to attend and share their voices, especially in rural communities where healthcare services are often stretched thin. The public engagement sessions are open to anyone, and residents can register for the sessions and view the fill schedule at Alberta.ca.
Those unable to attend in person can participate online and virtual options. Additionally, an e-newsletter is available for those who wish to stay informed about ongoing updates and future opportunities to provide input.
