Bonnyville’s 2024 Municipal Census shows population growth

The results of Bonnyville’s 2024 Municipal Census have been released, showing that the town continues to grow. The new population of Bonnyville is at 6,675, an increase from the 2021 Statistics Canada Census, which was a population of 6,359.

Mayor Elisa Brosseau and town administration were notified of the official results by Municipal Affairs at the end of January. The ministry reviewed all municipal census data to ensure consistency with the Municipal Census Regulations.

While the town’s shadow population did not reach the limit for inclusion in the 2024 Census, the updated population data remains essential for future planning and funding decisions. Proper census figures will help the town secure provincial and federal funding and guide infrastructure development, community services and other municipal initiatives.

The town of Bonnyville thanked residents who participated in the census, ensuring the accuracy and success of this project.
