A 17-year-old from Saskatoon will face charges in Lloydminster court on Tuesday after several online sale meet-ups went sideways.
On Jan. 29 at about 3:28 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP responded to a robbery near 43 Street. The victim had met with the suspect to sell an item. When the suspect approached the seller, they sprayed them with a substance believed to be pepper spray, and fled with the item.
On Feb. 2, at about 5:32 p.m., Lloydminster RCMP responded to a report of a robbery, around 80 Avenue. The victim was attempting to sell the property to the suspect. When the seller arrived to meet the suspect, they were sprayed with a substance, that was possibly pepper spray, and their property was stolen.
Then at about 6:43 p.m., Lloydminster RCMP responded to another report of a robbery that had occurred near 48 Street. The victim had attempted to buy an item from the suspect who then sprayed the victim with what is believed to be pepper spray.
On Feb. 4, the suspect was found by police in St. Paul and was arrested without incident.
The 17-year-old male from Saskatoon cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He has been charged with the following offences in connection to the Bonnyville incident:
- Two counts of Robbery
- Assault
- Theft over $5,000
- Five counts of failure to comply with release order
- Two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
- Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Robbery to steal firearm
- Possession of a break-in instrument
- Two counts of robbery
The youth was brought before a justice of the peace and was remanded into custody.
They are to return to Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
