The Cold Lake Aeros Junior A Hockey Club has announced that it will be dormant for the upcoming 2024/25 season. This decision is part of the organization’s commitment to bringing a higher-caliber hockey program to the City of Cold Lake, with plans to return stronger in the future. Â
Although the Aeros will not participate in regular-season games during the 2024-25 season, the club has confirmed that its Academy programs will continue to operate. The U16 program, led by Head Coach Shawn Coles, will remain active, providing young athletes with opportunities to develop their skills and pursue their hockey dreams. Â
In addition to the ongoing Academy programs, the Cold Lake Aeros will be organizing a series of skill-building and skating workshops throughout the season. These workshops will cater to players of all ages and skill levels, offering them a chance to enhance their abilities under the guidance of experienced coaches. The club has also announced a partnership with Brinson Pasinchuk to provide top-level instruction to players in the Cold Lake area. Â
The Aeros Gear Store, located inside the Imperial Oil Arena, will remain open throughout the season. The store will continue to offer skate sharpening services and a wide range of hockey accessories to meet the needs of the local hockey community. Â
The Cold Lake Aero Junior A Hockey Club has expressed gratitude to the city of Cold Lake for its continued support. The club is proud to collaborate with the city to offer advertising opportunities within the Imperial Oil Arena at the Cold Lake Energy Centre. These opportunities provide valuable exposure for local businesses and organizations. Â
While the decision to go dormant for the season may be disappointing to some, the Aeros assure their supporters that this move is part of a long-term strategy to enhance the hockey experience for players and fans alike. The club is committed to returning in the 2025/26 season with an exciting and competitive team. Â
The Cold Lake Aeros extend their heartfelt appreciation to fans, sponsors, and community members for their unwavering support. The club looks forward to continued support as it works through this process. Â
